Precautions for aluminum foil printing

1. Printing substrate

It is required that the aluminum foil has good toughness and flatness, without wrinkles, swings and other phenomena. The surface of the aluminum foil should be clean and free of oil stains.

2. Printing equipment

Because aluminum foil is easy to produce creases when passing through the guide roller, special aluminum foil printing machinery and narrow width printing are generally required. The drying capacity of the drying channel of the printing machine is required to be strong, and the air volume is large, so as to thoroughly dry the ink and volatilize the peculiar smell of the resin.

3. Printing process

(1) Ink adhesion shall be confirmed by test; (2) The viscosity of ink should not be too high, which is conducive to leveling. During printing, it should be stirred frequently to prevent precipitation, and solvent should be added in time to make up for its volatilization and keep the viscosity of the ink consistent. It is best to use a circulating ink pump. In case of ink foaming during printing, an appropriate amount of defoamer can be added; (3) Aluminum foil is a non extensible material, and the tension can be appropriately increased during printing, which is convenient for overprint and stable transportation; (4) In order to strengthen ink drying, the oven temperature can be as high as possible, but if the oven temperature is too high when starting up, it is very easy to wrinkle the aluminum foil. Therefore, the operation can be started at low speed and low temperature. By gradually increasing the speed and temperature, the processing parameters can be officially printed after meeting the process requirements in the process of stable operation, so as to avoid emergency stop and emergency start operations; (5) Varnish is usually printed on the surface of the ink to enhance the wear resistance, scratch resistance and temperature resistance of the ink.

4. Post processing factors

Pure aluminum foil is brittle, with poor flexibility. It is not conducive to slitting if the printing surface is too hard or too soft. It is also not conducive to slitting if the printing surface is too slippery or not slippery. Generally, the requirements can be met by adjusting the nitrocellulose in the aluminum foil ink. If a single nitrocellulose cannot meet the requirements, it can be matched with two kinds of nitrocellulose to meet the requirements. The smoothness of the surface can be adjusted with wax powder. Usually, some leveling aids can also be added to improve the printing effect and prevent the production of orange peel, but do not add too much leveling agents, because some leveling AIDS have the effect of extinction, which will affect the brightness and adhesion of aluminum foil ink prints.
